PHBLUE started in 2010 with a single van and one rule: leave the house tidier than we found it. Fifteen years later, that's still the rule. Most of our work comes from word of mouth: neighbours telling neighbours, landlords telling other landlords, and the occasional builder calling in a favour.

Who actually does the work

I'm Nigel Phillips, founder, lead engineer, and the person who'll usually be on your doorstep. I've been a Gas Safe registered engineer since 2010. I have a small, hand-picked team of plumbers and electricians I trust, all Welsh-trained, Welsh-based, and held to the same standard as everything I do myself.

    PHBLUE founded

    One van, one rule: leave the house tidier than we found it. Gas Safe registered from day one.

  2. 2014

    NICEIC certification

    Part P registered for domestic electrical installations. Every install notified to the local authority.

  3. 2018

    Premium boiler brands added

    Routinely installing Worcester Bosch, Vaillant and Viessmann boilers. Extended manufacturer warranties available where the brand's installer scheme applies.

  4. 2022

    Air source heat pumps

    Began surveying and installing air source heat pumps through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, the government grant route for eligible homes in England and Wales.

    Verified Google reviews

    Hundreds of jobs completed across Cardiff and South Wales. Word of mouth still our biggest source of work, a metric we're unusually proud of.

What the certifications mean

The badges, in plain English.

  • Gas Safe registered

    Legally required to work on gas in the UK. Every gas job we do is signed off by a Gas Safe engineer, and registered to your address within 14 days.

  • Qualified electrical contractors

    Electrical work is completed by appropriately qualified electrical contractors. Notifiable installations are reported to your local authority and certificates are provided where applicable.

  • Heat pumps: Boiler Upgrade Scheme

    We design and install air source heat pumps through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme route: £9,000 for homes on oil or LPG, £7,500 on mains gas. Eligibility is confirmed at survey.

  • Premium boiler brands

    Worcester Bosch, Vaillant and Viessmann installed regularly. Extended manufacturer warranties available where the brand's installer scheme applies. We'll confirm the exact warranty terms in your written quote.

How we work

The promises we actually keep.

We answer the phone. We turn up when we say we will. We give you a fixed quote for most jobs and an honest written estimate for the bigger ones. We don't charge call-out fees on jobs we go on to quote. We tidy up before we leave. We tell you if you don't actually need a new boiler. And we won't sell you a heat pump unless it's right for your house.

We work with a single triage line out of hours so genuine emergencies get prioritised, and dripping taps don't wake anyone up at 2am.
